Although the plot may sound cheesy, the story line is brilliant and the adventure mechanics of the game are extremely logical. Just what you would expect the real Sherlock Holmes to do.
For those of you who think that Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is easy, please let me inform you that the game is not easy at all. You have to keep a close look out for even the smallest clue like a scrap of cloth, bit of fiber or even a footprint. As you go along, these minute clues will help solve the mystery which begins with a servant going missing and turns into a globe-spanning adventure and horrors from beyond space and time.
This said, if you look at all the backdrops carefully, you will be able to spot the clues without any problems. In the games key areas like desks and shelves can be zoomed in so that you get an idea that you have to take Sherlock Holmes magnifying glass and take a closer look. However, just by observing and solving clues will not stop the cultists from summoning Cthulhu. You have to solve a lot of puzzles during the course of the game, including a couple of combination door locks, clock conundrum to open a safe, some really difficult ciphers and a challenge to draw a bloody pentagram.
All the evidence has to taken back to Baker Street, Sherlock Holmes’ house and laboratory, where they are examined. This means using scalpel or tweezers correctly on a piece of evidence under the microscope. Hotspots in the game can also be at times tricky to activate.
This fantastic 3D game makes you look through the eyes of Sherlock Holmes or Watson and the characters of the game are drawn beautifully and with such detail that you can even see the pores on Watson’s face.
Sherlock Homes: The Awakened is a must play game and those of you who enjoy mystery games with a supernatural twist will enjoy the game a lot.
