The game has Skirmish, Multiplayer and Campaign modes. There is also an Army Painter mode where you can edit the skins of units and vehicles.  In the multiplayer gaming mode, Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War allows direct IP play which is as simple as putting in an IP address and clicking Accept.

In the Campaign mode, you get to know the story through cutscenes and after each mission is completed, the story continues. The cutscenes feature some important plot twists and it would be worth your while to watch them. However, do not expect to be enthralled.

There is one drawback in Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War. When you are moving many squads at once for battle, they automatically spread out and this makes it easier to distinguish the different squads. However, in the game most fighting is done in close quarter and this makes commanding large armies difficult. You will realize this when you tell all squads to attack. Just a few will manage to get into attacking positions while the others are spread too far and end up standing and doing nothing. This means you would have take control of each squad individually and order them to attack one by one, making it a tedious process

If we leave the movement issues aside, Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War is a fast paced action packed game. You will be working through the control points on your map and when you take over a control point, you are rewarded with the game currency, Requisition and you can only get Requisition based on your combat success. This means developing the skill and number of your unit in a strategic manner.

You can be sure that with Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War, you will not be disappointed. The gameplay is fantastic even though some of the mechanics could have been better. There is just the right balance between strategy and action.
